Camera City in Holborn has had some experience with repairing the R-D1. A friend has had his repaired by them, but it depends on the problem and whether they can get the parts. My friend got the part via the German site that supplies parts. see below.

Further info on parts supply and servicing on Steve Cutrlers R-D1 Website.

Just to update this thread ...
I had an rd1, it died, I sent it to epson uk
there was a fixed charge for repair, of around £250... I agreed to it, but after a couple of days had a phone call asking if I would prefer a referbed rd1s with very low milage for the same money... I agreed!
I now have said rd1s, and am very happy!

How do they know it has a very low mileage? I've never found a shutter actuation counter?

Nice,
After my last somewhat aquatic outing with my R-D1 I'm thinking of sending it in for service. haven't really started checking what the best place is to send it to.

Any idea if they have any more? I wouldn't mind getting one in near brand new condition.

Me too, I'm interested into a complete service for my R-D1, which basically has a misaligned rangefinder and other cosmetic problems (missing viewfinder rubber, detached grip).
A few months ago, there was a thread of a user being able to send his R-D1 to Epson JP : he received an almost new camera (new grip, new viewfinder, sensor and everything cleaned, ...) for a reasonable price. I'm not able to find this thread nor an official mail address for European users.
Any help about how to recovering the thread mentioned above or, better, some official mail valid for Italy or for European users?
Many thanks,
Giampiero
EDIT: The thread is here http://www.rangefinderforum.com/foru...47&postcount=1. He paid just 250 EUR, shipping and handling included. I just asked to the OP about how to use this service.
Anyway, any informations about web-address or similar of the official Epson service in Italy or somewhere in Europe will be appreciated.

Do you have the contact details for The folks at Epson UK who helped you. I'm looking to get my RD-1 services too?
