Nikon 1 v1 plus 10-30 zoom fire sale
http://www.mirrorlessrumors.com/niko...s-down-to-399/
I am not interest in this camera, but spotted this fire sale posting..
A new v2 is either around the corner or the v1 sales are really bad.

From what I understand, sales in Europe are doing good.

Probably shouldn't have called it a fire sale... Price has been dropping for a while from original msrp... But this is the lowest I can remember seeing it. Amazon Is currently listing at 445 for black kit and 496 got white..

Down to just $380- with the 10-30 mm at Adorama using coupon code S1111111
I've ordered one, so now need to find an M adaptor.

just won a like new one with a Freinac grip and extra battery still under warranty for $370. i miss my 2x crop m4/3, not the IQ, just the crop factor which was wonderful for wildlife and other tele work. at this price it would have to be a real bomb to not at least be worthwhile for this particular purpose. i ordered an M mount adapter, and already have AR>M and m42>AR mount adapters to use some really nice compact 85-135's! should arrive this week. wish i could post samples on this forum...

Tony,
Where did you get the M mount adapter - ebay has tons, but I'm concerned about the quality.

I'd love to find a kit with just the 10mm prime for this price.

hi meeker
i get all my adapters from Rainbow Imaging. they are fast reliable, and while not 'gold standard' quality, ive always felt their gear was sturdy. if you need a site i can probably dig it up for you.

Adapter arrived yesterday from Rainbow Imaging (that' very quick IMO) and looks very nicely made. Due to observance of a religious holiday at Adorama, I'm still waiting on the on V1, so can't try it out yet.

well dont be too disappointed, but, as if i needed another example of why i hate cannikon, the good folks over at nikon decided to go against the grain and have its software 'not recognize' any lens attached with a third party adapter. they make their own adapter for nikon legacy glass, everyone else can go to hell!
as a consequence the camera will not allow you to shoot an adapted lens in any but 'mamual exposure' mode. not such a problem, but because the software does not recognize a lens is attached, the in camera aids for manual focus (three step focus zoom) and for camera metering (an on screen gauge that shows under, over and proper exposure) do not work. dont even try, it just doesnt work and its intentional.
the work around is obviously using longer lenses because focus can only be achieved by eyeballing at the lenses native distance. or, thanks to increased DOF of three stops (5.6=f16 DOF), zone focusing. for metering, while the cam locks the shutter in aperture priority, it DOES ttl meter, so a good approximation can be derived there, then move to 'manual' exposure and start the shutter speed at that value, and chimp. or sunny 16 and chimp.
btw, it also means auto iso doesnt work, so you first need to set that manually.
have fun and thanks for nothing nikon.

Same here, it's really sad and I hope at Nikon are reading this. They made a camera which could have been great for the combination of fast autofocus in a smallish body at a bargain price, but they spoiled everything with stuff like this. All forums criticized the fact that one could not manually set which autofocus system (Phase or Contrast Detection) to use at a given moment (=the fast autofocus get sluggish when light goes down), that they introduced yet another proprietary flash system (having one of the best systems on the market for their DSLRs) and what do they do? They come out with a new version which is just the same but is also available in red! Also in the small point and shot they missed everything, Samsung comes out with a small f1.4 lens gem, Sony...well does too much to mention and they introduce the S01 at price many time higher than what you would like to pay for such a toy. Unfortunately, the only camera which is still at the level we were used is the top of the line D4 and looking at Sony's proposals I doubt that will last for long.

Even with the coupon code I posted above?
That's unfortunate about the lack of autoexposure. I guess it's sunny 16 for me. That
worked when I had a zorki, but that's with pretty forgiving b&w film.

A couple of test shots with the CV Ultron 35mm/f1.7
edit: actually I think the second one is with a 50mm summicron.

Just picked up a refurb V1 kit w/10-30 for $349. When I think of it as a compact replacement and not a DSLR or Leica replacement suddenly it all makes sense. None of the other mirrorless cameras are replacing my DSLR kit anyhoo. Or my Leicas, for that matter. Just have to keep putting pennies and dollars in the jar until it equals M-E.
I will have some fun birding with my 70-300 VR on an FT-1....
