M2 adjustment question

I am trying to adjust a M2 I acquired long time ago but never get used. This is about horizontal adjustment. I found even I push the arm using my finger all the way down, the rangefinder patch is still far from the center patch. of course turning the big screw in the arm never gets it work. Anyone knows what's happening and what I should do? Thanks a lot.

If it's the screw I think you mean, it has nothing to do with centering the rangefinder. It is the horizontal adjustment for the rangefinder. I don't know what you mean by "rangefinder patch vs. "center patch." To me, they are the same. How does it look with a lens in place, and the lens set at infinity?

Sorry, I wasnt clear. This about horizontal adjustment. At first, I tried to adjust the big screw to get infinity aligned. I didn't succeed. No matter how much I turn it, the second image is always on the far right of the first image (with the lens focus at infinity). So, I just try to push the arm using my finger, instead of using the lens, I found even I push it all the way down, the second image is still on the right.

Sounds like it needs a repair job, not adjustment.

Agreed. If it's that far out of alignment something in your rangefinder assembly probably slipped out of position.
