Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Decided to brave taking my camera to the pub. I think it was worth it.

Not exactly brave - it's a camera after all, but great you did this - post more!

Welcome to the forum ;-)

Jean-Marc, I really wish for such interesting combos, to become more useful with the M in the future (who knows, what a M10 might bring ).

Haha, You clearly haven't seen how messy a night in the pub can get!

Thanks for the welcome. I've been subscribed to these threads for a couple of months now and finally decided to post.

As the night went on focussing got harder and harder (because of the fading light, not the beer obviously) so the photos aren't exactly 'pin-sharp' but I think they capture the mood.
I sold my nex 7 for the M8 to get away from 'perfect' digital photos and focus more on the 'soul' of an image. Best decision I ever made.

There's some really cool stuff in this thread. I just got an M8 and I have this super crap Russian Jupiter 8 that back focuses like crazy...but when you get it in focus (mostly) it really does glow - interesting...here are some of my first images taken with this camera...

Driving home...had to take a detour due to an accident...went right past an old abandoned drive in movie theatre...snapped these before the skies opened up an unholy fury of rain and lightning...definitely worth a revisit.
