Got one from our fearless project leader Rob in New York. Your image reminds me of the reservoir I live 1/4 of a mile from.

I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. But where can I go to see these postcard images? Is there a gallery for it?
Also, when will the Round 3 begin?

I think it's going well. Got one from OR state today. Am tracking close to Dan's list +/- 1 or so.
It's only been a bit over a month, and many have 2/3rds already, so I think it's going well. At the beginning, many folks hadn't selected their image or card solution yet, so it will be nice to still be getting cards in late summer. No hurries for me. I enjoy going through the cards every few days, often see things I didn't see before, or have questions for the photographer, but they can wait until everyone gets caught up.
It is interesting that so many of the Intl. ones have arrived so fast. Still amazed at that intl efficiency for postcards, and the condition is pretty much as ones coming relatively local.

Last time we posted the images after all participants received all cards (or almost all, because some got lost) in the projects thread. This means here this time. So keep reading the thread, the pictures will appear.
Next round depends if and when someone starts one. Rob did the first and second round and because he did a great job, I would wait until he likes and has the time to do it. Also I think between rounds there should be a little time, because it is not easy for all to manage the printing and stuff (not to forget the costs...), as you can see in the postings here. This idea should not become stressful, especially not for Rob.

Agree with all of this. We should start a separate thread after round 2 is closed (inlcuding post and story of the images) to cover the ideas for a possible next project (free like 1&2 or driven by: subject, location, weather, colour vs b/w...)

Just finished addressing the last of my cards. Happy to be typing this post!
I will want to give enough time for most of the cards to arrive, I think we waited about 5 or 6 weeks from the mailing "deadline" last time, before we all start posting our photos and stories. My reasoning is same as last time; I'd rather see the physical card first rather than see it on my computer.
As to the next one...honestly I have been thinking about how to minimize the small hiccups with the addresses and how to make this a bit easier on myself but I mostly want to keep this as a fairly low key, low pressure thing. The one change I know I will do for the next one is to start another gmail account specifically dedicated to the project so that all the relevant emails and addresses are there and so that there is nothing there except for that info.
A couple of thoughts for going forward: the first two I did not want to limit the numbers and this has worked out very well. But we have also just about doubled the number of folks playing. Excellent! But that will be a problem if we double again. I may have to think about setting a maximum number of folks. I really don't like that much but 60 seems just on the edge of too much. Especially for those folks who print their own and/or hand address the cards.
I absolutely do not want this to become a burden to anyone, nor for folks to choose not to play because it becomes too much like work.
Part three will not be immediately after this one, I'm thinking possibly after Labor day but before Thanksgiving--mid to late September.
Which leads nicely into this: I don't own this idea and certainly would be happy if any one else wants to organize a similar project!
I have not suggested themes for a couple of reasons; one, I wanted to minimize the time spent on discussions about what those should be so that the cards would get to every one that much faster. And, two, I simply wanted to see all your work unsullied by any expectations I may have had. And, three, I wanted to avoid the film vs digital debate. I am interested in the process and am happy to discuss the choices we've made but did not want that particular divisiveness to intrude on the projects.
Anyway, I figure we should wait at least for the end of July before we start posting our images but if we have all got our cards before then, we can alter that.
As ever, I am very grateful for the work and enthusiasm you all have shown in this!
Rob

Rob,
We (RFFers who participated in this project) thank YOU for all your work to organize this postcard exchange. My daughter is a computer vizualization major at Texas A&M and was home for the weekend. She liked a lot of the images she saw.
Thanks again, great project.

Thanks, krotenblender!
I know it's a lot of work. I'll be watching for Round 3 when it's time. I just found my supply of Ilford 4x6 postcard stock, so I'm loaded for bear, as they say.

I'm up to 42 cards... me and Cor have done our part to insure elephants are overrepresented animals, I see. All of my cards are in good shape: a few banged corners, but overall excellent. Signs of having actually been sent through the mail is key, I think.
I just love the whole process. Can't wait to do this again.

I second this... Rob, you've earned serious karma points for organizing this project these past two years. VERY much appreciated!

I'm on holiday in the Alps since one week and very curious to see how many cards will be in the box when I'll go back home in a couple of days!
Meantime I desire to thank rob for organisation and all other friends for taking part and sending interesting cards. GRAZIE!

. . . . . a gallery was created by an RFF member, dct, for the last postcard project which can be found here: http://www.pbase.com/dct/gallery/rff
The idea is to have everyone receive the postcards prior to posting electronic copies. One of the gifts of receiving the cards is having the surprise of seeing the card for the first time without any knowledge or what we will find in the mailbox when we arrive at home.
Love the project and enjoy both the giving and receiving of the postcards.

I wanted to scan my received cards and create such a posting, but I was unsure whether I was allowed to scan and post other people's work.
Thanks for the link.

I guess it would be easiest if everybody just put the picture into the gallery that they used for the card.
Of course that would make the others miss out on the impressive circular blue stamps that Kyrgyz Post has put in the middle of some of your pictures

Well, after weeks of waiting, my Moo postcards finally arrived in Mexico this weekend and I've started mailing them in batches of twenty today. Again, my apologies for the lateness.
After thinking about it I decided I would address and write the notes in each one by hand, despite my heinous handwriting. Philipp's address in Cyrillic was quite a challenge given that I have problems with LATIN script; but also a satisfaction to behold after it was done.
Hand addressing and writing a batch of twenty was much more difficult than I had imagined. Being part of a generation that rarely handwrites ANYTHING (even phone numbers) has impaired that ability and writing the first ones felt like running the 100 meter dash!
Anyway, my apologies for my ridiculous calligraphy. If someone needs help to decipher my hieroglyphics I'll be glad to serve as interpreter
As to the count, I'm currently sitting at 35 over here. It's been a pleasure receiving them all and, as others have posted, my family and friends are enjoying this project a lot too, they make stories about some of the pictures, wonder about visiting the places pictured and enjoy looking at the stamps, etc.
I've never been home when the mailman delivers them but I'm sure he's having a ball too, considering that all he delivers these days are bills and publicity (and my VERY occasional e-bay package )
Most of the postcards are unscathed but there are the ones where the origin post system put some sticker or stamp on the image and very few ones with deep rub marks or edge damage. Still I wholeheartedly agree with a recent poster that signs of the card having been through the mail delivery system are part of the magic.
So, many thanks to all of you and specially to Rob for organizing this. I'm definitely in for ' part trois' !
cheers!
