Nikon S2 Rangefinder adjustment

Hi all,

What's better to adjust the rangefinder focusing with a lens
on the camera or without. I want to set the infinity focus.

Thanks
Range

With or without. Doesn't make any difference.

It wouldn't make any difference optically.

But the weight of a lens would let you get a feel of how well (or lacking) greased the helical is.

FTR the focus helicoid is designed to work un-lubricated. But a tiny bit of grease can make the action smoother. This of course has nothing to do with the rangefinder infinity adjustment.

I did put in a bit of gear lube in the focus helicoid and it does work better.
I'll leave things where they be now and see how the pictures are.

Thanks all
