The Lost Frame

The frame on the leader. Never knew what to do with it? Post it here.

I found this last week going through some old negatives. I looked up the magazine cover it was from 1984. So, this is my desk, 1984--Livermore Ca.

P.S. to any law enforcement officers who notice the item in the lower left corner....let me repeat, this is from 1984.

Until this thread, I never thought about the "lost frame" and that this is a frame I've probably never seen, or at the very least paid attention to, because the lab never printed it.

I've just gone through hundreds of negatives....and now I'm going to have to go back through them again, just to quench my curiosity.

And I'm honestly not sure if this is some weird flare or from it being the first frame with the bottom not on the camera right by accident.

I didn't clip the leader when loading this film on to my developing reel; it must have doubled over in my changing bag. So we get a lost frame plus?

Didn't Moriyama say once, every frame counts, even the ones of your shoes when you are winding on? There's something magnetic and deeply enigmatic about some of these half-told stories residing the double-zero frame. Incidentally, there was a recent article in Lens, discussing a slideshow of Jason Eskenazy's 'lost frames'. Might be of interest to some: http://lens.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/0...ng-to-be-more/

@Bobkatz: I agree with Pablito, that second half-frame (above) in particular is haunting.
