Fuji X100 and telephoto

For all you Fuji X100 users; what do you do when you are out in the field and you wish the X100 could also go to 90mm?
1. Carry another body and lens?
2. Just shoot anyway?
3. Curse the day the X100 was born?
4. Carry a Fuji X10 to stay in the family.

I just understand the limitations of a fixed lens. If I need 90 for the shot I want, I look around for other shots that I can get. It helps to push my creative side a bit more, which has resulted in some nice shots in the past.

I also understand that at times, I just shrug my shoulders and know that the 35mm focal length can't do everything--if I wanted to be prepared for everything, I'd carry my D700 + lenses.

Surely it would depend on the size of the field ... maybe in a smaller field you could get away with a 50mm or even the 35mm?

Shoot and crop.

Cropping a 35mm equivalent image to a 70mm equiv reduces the resolution from 12 to 3 MP, but that is sufficient most of the time.

Does it happen often, in practice, that you wish for 90mm equivalent?

Last summer I traveled for 2 weeks in Israel. I brought the X100, plus an RD-1 with 25mm, 28mm, 35mm, 40mm, 50mm and 90mm lenses. At least 80% of my keepers were from the X100; of the RD-1 shots, most were made with the 28mm and 40mm. The 90mm never made it out of the bag.

I find that different people shoot much differently, especially with regard to focal length. My friend and I both have Pentax LX's. His has an FA 100mm F/2.8 pretty much glued to it. Mine has an FA 35mm F/2 glued to it. We both consider those our main lenses.

Yes this. I think this is the attitude of most of us who tend to stick to the 35mm-50mm lens area 99% of the time. I'm more concerned with what is around me than what is waaaaay over there.

I let him tell me about the fish that got away; he lets me talk about the shot that wouldn't work at 35mm.

Then we have beer.
