My first proper camera was a Minolta x300. I think I paid around £150 - ish, with two lenses. I took it to New York back in 97 and got some great pics even though I had no idea what I was doing. (tourist shots)
I traded it a few months back for a Rollei 35S

Canon T-70 with 50/1.4 received as a gift in 1984. Sold it about 5 years ago. Got another one a year ago for my daughter to use. They are basically given away nowadays. I actually like the T-70, just wish then motor wind was quieter.

Minolta X-370. Xmas present from my Dad, a former photographer. Set the whole thing in motion--and cost me thousands of dollars in the process. Addiction is a terrible thing....

A Polaroid Swinger - took only B&W Polaroid instant film. Think of it as a precursor to the Leica M Monochrom.

When I joined the Army, I was, after a few months, moved to a photographic unit, where I learned photography with Nikon F100 and F5...my first PERSONAL camera was a cheap used Canon EOS 1000...wuhä.

My first camera was a Polaroid I got when I was 5 years old, back in 1990. Helped to learn framing I still have it too!

Back when I was a kid I had a bakelite camera that took 127 film. I have no idea what happened to it or what brand it was. I used to throw the negatives away. I was only interested in the prints.
In 1969 I got a Nikkormat FTn. I loved that camera, but sold it in the late 80s then missed it so much I went and bought another one almost identical - which I still have.

I voted for 'another'. My first that was my own, was a Ricoh KR-10M. I still have it in the closet.

Great to see Pentax is among the early leaders in this poll.

Me too. The first camera I bought was a second hand Pentax ME Super with a 50mm lens attached 25 to 30 years ago.
Back then I didn't now about zoom lenses and different focal lengths etc. and if I wanted a close up I walked forward and if I wanted a wide angle I walked backward
I've still got the camera and still use it occasionally and it has a roll of Ilford Delta 400 in it at the moment. These days it plays second fiddle to my M6.

My Mum gave me her Box Brownie. Later she she bought us all (brothers) Brownie 127s. I'm grateful to her for introducing us to photography so early in life.

In 2001 I bought Canon Rebel 2000 with kit lens for $500 or so. I like the camera, had to get Tamron zoom soon after, since that kit lens was real crap. Still have it.

My first serious camera was a Pentax K1000... some 30 years ago. My father gave it to me for learning purposes. I also got three lenses with it. It is long gone, but one of the lenses is still with my dad!

The first camera of my very own was a birthday gift when I was very young, a Brownie Starflash.
No, I don't still have it. It most likely was given to one of the thrift shops.
