Vintage Central Camera catalog ...

Yes, *THAT* Central Camera, back in 1936!

Surf here:

http://www.vintag.es/2012/06/central...alog-1936.html

Lotsa Leica, Zeiss stuff. I particularly like the Exakta "Reflecting camera with focal plane" SLR. Folders, box cameras, etc. ...

Enjoy

It's not a catalog, it's an almanac!

That is cool!

Interesting that rangefinders were "autofocus" cameras back then!

Very nice, it's surprising to see how little certain taglines have changed.

and oh golly... I see this link to "Girls with Vintage Camera Blog" on the side .... I'm powerless to resist!

What a great find! To think I've been shopping there for almost 40 years myself...

Thanks.

I've only been there once, after passing the place countless times on foot and on the El the many times I was in Chicago over the years.

I finally got there a few years ago. Just bought a couple rolls of film and browsed for maybe 5 minutes. I was running a bit tight for a lunch appointment so I had to scoot.

It's always on my maybe-do-it-list each time I go to Chicago, but it hasn't come up to the top again just yet.

Wow! Where I got my first "real" camera (a Ricoh Singlex TLS) in the early 70's, and where my Dad got his first nice camera in the 1950's (a Voigtlander Vito II). I still try to stop by Central at least once a month!
