Top-speed lenses on the OM-D..

I came cross with an interesting review of two hi-speed lenses on the OM-D. Actually they should have included the Oly 45/1.8 too, but still remarkable results. In the response section you may note what a top Leica professional (Neil Buchan-Grant) has commented:

You can buy the Nikon and give one to each of your seventeen best friends for the cost of the Leica
That comment amused me!

A twelve and half thousand dollar lens on a thousand dollar camera really does stretch the imagination!

look, i'm not a pro photographer, though ive been a pretty active 'snapper' for thirty plus years, but i just dont understand why anyone needs or even wants to shoot at 1.2. i just do not get it at all. the reason most photographers spend big bucks on great digi cams is to allow use of higher shutter speeds in low light, and so assumedly allowing one to NOT have to shoot wide open.

now i do understand that 'art', or very specific physical circumstances, may dictate use of 1.2, but again, these are a narrow set of circumstances.

for the vast majority--make that vast vast vast majority--of photographers, please tell me what so floats your boat about 1.2, or even 1.4? help educate me!

That was a weird review..?

Focus seems off and he took pictures through a dirty window. How does one compare that?

This however is pretty nice (NSFW, serious camera porn ):
