Real Score Panny 14 2.5

I've been reading mixed reviews of this lens. One showed very bad distortion and vignetting and low corner sharpness. Not too much interested with scientific measurements but instead want to see some comments in actual use. Has anyone here used this lens extensively and what are your experience with it in real life shooting?

It focuses way faster than its 20mm cousin. I find it acceptably sharp even at f2.5. You can also find it for insanely cheap.

Get one.

I haven't noticed much if any distortion.

I havne't gone in depth with the results of this lens from my restaurant shoot, but will have a chance to do that tomorrow. So far, however, the lens appears sharp! Vignetting doesn't bother me and I haven't really noticed distortion yet. I am quite happy with it so far.

This lens has been attached to my GF1, then G3, and now the OMD. It is a fantastic lens. Free of vignetting and distortion. Strange, I've never come across a bad review of this lens.

All the images here have been shot with the 14/2.5 - http://keithgoldstein.me/category/chinatown/

That review found distortion w/ the lens when shooting in RAW mode. I never use RAW on my E-PL1 (the jpegs are very, very good straight from this camera), so perhaps that's why I've not seen evidence of distortion.

Steve Huff reviewed the Pany 14/2.5 and gave it a generally good review; in fact, it was his favorable review that tipped me toward getting the lens.

I just bought one for $160 on ebay. I'm looking forward to mounting that tiny lens on the tiny EPL2 camera.

Yes I did see the somewhat glowing review of Steve Huff as well. I might push the order any moment. Just wondering, the correction of Jpegs include the lens distortion?

My plan is to put this in my EP3 and 20 1.7 and or 45 1.8 in the OMD. This way I'm always ready for a wide shot.

Thanks!

This is so untrue -

"Cons:
monstrous distortion,
huge vignetting,
image quality on the edge of the frame could have been better."

They might have gotten the rare bad example.

Yes I was actually bewildered by their comments as others have all praises for this small pancake lens.

This review:

http://www.photozone.de/olympus--fou...s/613-pana1425

gives kind of a medium 3/5 review for the lens.

Looking at the samples at the end, show some good distortion correction (were taken with a GF1), but distortion artifacts are still present, and some softness at infinity, though the face shot at f4 is very sharp. Could be they have a less than perfect sample. Doesn't look much better than my Oly 14-42 zoom at 14. But the 2.5 could come in handy.

I finally got this lens yesterday afternoon and this morning I got to try it with the OMD unfortunately it was an accident scene. Some people got injured.
