M6 sell to get...

An m2 or m3 plus a lens?

Just wondering who would sell an M6 for an m2/3 and a lens.

I have 2 m6s and was thinking about selling one and investing in a "beater" leica. Ether an M2 and 35 lens, or a m3 and 35mm.

Question I have is about the m2 vs m3, which is better? I know the m3 doesnt have 35 framelines, but is it worth it to get the m3 over the 2 and just guess the frame?

I dont know, something i'm pondering.

If your M6's work, stay with what you have. Why change? If it is a GAS attack that only God can help you.

Is it a new lens or new camera that you want?

The M6 is honestly a better camera. Before I got my two M6 bodies, I bought and returned 12 M2 bodies online and handled several more in shops I was able to drive to. NONE. Not one. Zero. None...worked right. Every single one had a dim rangefinder...completely worthless if you want an easy to focus system like your M6. The sad fact is, the M2 is 50+ yrs old and they're almost all just plain worn out. Keep your M6.

Well, he has two M6s... so perhaps one can be sold for an older one. However, I agree... go M4.

If it's GAS you have, then go for it.
Speculating won't do anything other than take up your time.

I enjoy my M2 over my M6, it's not that worn out. Infact it made my M6 feel like it was crude. And no RF flare to speak of. I am thinking about though; an black M6 with black paint film advance lever though, maybe that's the big disconnect between the two for me.

If a 'beater' Leica is what you want, then get one with a fresh CLA and checks out in all the wear items.

Comparison amongst my M-bodies, all in excellent condition, some in use since at least four decades; just my humble view of course:

Viewfinder characteristics including flare:

M3 .............. M6 0.85 Classical

M2, M4 ............... M6 .72 TTL

Smoothness; feel of quality:

M2, M3, M4 .............. M6

Going to Africa for 6-months, which one to take with a couple of lenses?

M4

Have to sell, which one first?

M3, M4 (all others )

What I was planning was to sell my m6 classic, keep my .85 ttl and aquifer an m2/3 with a 35 voigtlander. And thy would be my
"beater" camera, one I'm not afraid of abusing. Idealy I would like to do this without selling the m6, but money is tight. Right now I haw two bodies and one lens. So selling one body to get another and a lens? Seems like a good idea.. But I am unsure.
