A big day... the wife posed for me
My life has been bereft of portrait candidates. I haven't done any for years and the wife has been less than forthcoming as a volunteer. But today I find out that it's ok if she is all dressed up... as she is here for a retro jubilee tea party. In disguise, as it were.
So now I am going to have to spend a load of money getting her dressed up some more. We met in Mexico City by the way, hence the occasional bottle of Corona  She is of Japanese and Andalucían lineage.
On a technical note, the X100 can really punch above its weight and the fill flash is sublime. I haven't touched film in over a week since I got it. The AF misses now and again but the lens, flash and ND filter make up for it. I am using the live view through the VF for DOF and exposure comp. more than I expected, but it I find it essential in difficult, contrasty light.
Let me know what you think. I love them, but I am way too biased

Number 2 is my favorite, love the light, wind blown hair and dress, while standing in front of the union jack.
. . . . . perhaps you should start purchasing her some more retro outfits!

I love all the shots. My fave is the BW one even though the highlights are slightly clipped in the strong sidelight? I love the contrast, the graphical effect of the union jack and the flow and movement of the skirt in the wind. Plus this has a great retro look.
I've just recently bought an X100 too and have been really impressed with it's performance. Yes, it's got one or two quirks but the positive points outweigh the niggles for me.

The second shot is really great.
Maybe you should have made the 'spending money on dressing up more' promise to your wife before - might have gotten in the mood for posting much sooner

Her hair style and posing remind me of girls of the WWII era. She is very lovely.
My Wife doesn't like to pose either - just doesn't like the way she looks in photographs. Last year I got her to pose in a new hat she had purchased. The photo won second place in a show. I told her "see, other people think you look good". I just ask her occasionally and it works out.

Congrats, that's awesome that your wife posed for you, and she's beautiful to boot.
I'm envious that you're in Bath, I visited it once with my wife and wanted to move there immediately.

My favorite too for the same reasons. The third one is my second favorite. Some might complain about the arm being blown out, but it doesn't bother me.

Thanks for all your comments, feedback means a lot and I am sure the wife will be well chuffed with your approval. I agree that the Union Jack shot has blown out in places - but it can't be salvaged. The light was unusually harsh and it was not a good time for photos.
That said, the X100 turned what are essentially snaps into keepers, no doubt about it.
