Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

Rangefinder Adjustment in San Francisco or NYC

The vertical alignment on my M8's rangefinder is ever so slightly off. As I understand it, this is a pretty simple adjustment for one to do. Does anyone know of a place in the San Francisco or NYC areas that would be able to do this adjustment while I waited for a reasonable price?

Thanks!

Lens and Repro in NYC adjusted a 90mm Tele-Elemarit while I waited and replaced a damaged screw in the flange. It was just a few dollars.
They have in-house repair of their Leica rental stable so you might be able to get them to adjust your M8 while you wait.

There's also Kurland's, next door to the Leica Gallery (670 Broadway, 5th floor) and they may be able to do it.

With the proper tool and a steady hand it only takes about 5 minutes from start to finish. Have some very thin double-sided tape handy to reattach your red dot too.
There might be a few RFF members in the NYC area (or SF for that matter) who have the tool and would do the adjustment. If I had my tool, I'd do it for the cost of a pint of Guinness but my kit is down in Philly as I'm just visiting the city for a few weeks.
