Lightroom 4 DNG icon instead of thumbnails for import

I have seen nothing searching RFF, and two questions on this but no answers elsewhere. I am now getting only a series of generic DNG icons when I call up the import pane from a Leica M9 with a Lexar Platinum II card. The pictures import fine. I am shooting compressed DNG in the camera settings and copying these as the option in Lightroom. I can't see a setting to fix this. This card has been working fine unlike my SanDisk cards with this camera. I always format in camera. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

Cured by using a card reader instead of the USB. Tedious to be pulling off the baseplate every time to get the photos off and silly to have to insert and eject the card from the card reader so often as the only way to retrieve the photos.
