| Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history! |

M9-M at $8k, pricey of course, but the same price as the M9P so I guess it's not completely out of bounds.
50/2 APO ASPH for $7200? No comment.
X2?? Why would anyone possibly be interested in this camera for $2k or $2600 with an EVF?
Hello, X-Pro1, or x100.

Let me get this straight. It will only shoot in B&W for $8000? I just want to make sure I got this right.

Yes those are US dealer net. There is no co-op or other back-end money, either.

That's what many people wanted. But of course they wanted this without a screen.

Years ago when this was first being tossed around here, these were cost-cutting ideas

And that's perfectly fine. I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss something. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I was curious if any of the following two would be featured in this M9M:
- higher bit depth - how about 24 or even 48 bit monochrome ?
- a feature to match the focus of a lens to the sensor, in other words a sensor with fine distance adjustment
It looks, like none of these are present, so let's wait for some real life reviews from people who only shoot film now - I am not expecting any serious reviews from digital camera pushers.

Crazy price on the new 50 summicron (assuming the above post is accurate). Maybe Leica did that, in part, to boost summarit sales?
It is way out of my reach, even if I sold a huge portion of my photography gear.

I've decided against the 50/2. That $125 cap is just too expensive for me. Have to draw the line somewhere.

The X2 is an Onion parody of Leica - only 2.5x the price of a X100, for no better performance!

$7k for a cron? pssssh, for that price (if I ever had that kind of money to blow on a lens) I'd rather have the lux asph.

Interesting, I'll probably pop down to my nearest Leica store and try the M9M with my own SD and play around with the files at home, but I'll stick to my M4 Monochrom which can be converted to an M4 Fujichrom too.
