A camera at Battles of Khalkhin Gol

I saw a topic at wikipedia and found one photo titled "Captured Japanese soldiers"

A man on most left frame hold a camera. In the beginning I thought it was FED, but after more close look it looks like Leica by have slow speed dial on front and Leitz like viewfinder. I wonder can red army photographer can use German camera when FED supposed to be used?

Could well be pre-war Leica III camera.

I have seen more samples of Soviet military photographers with a Leica instead of a FED
