I think the teak is darker than the maple, is it not?

I am looking to add a 300mm 5.6 Fuji and a 65mm 4.5 Grandagon at some point...

I got the maple purely because it's so beautiful, even though teak has better dimensional stability. I plan to keep the wood well protected (regular refinishing) so as to avoid any issues. And well, I'm Canadian ... so maple just seemed so right.

Right now I'm looking for a short "telephoto" for LF/4x5 portraits. I'd love the Fuji 240A, but it's just too spendy.

and now for something completely different (with apologies to Monty Python)

- a Panny 20/1.7 for my lensless G2 (I got the body with a bonus genuine battery at a killer price so I thought "why not?") I would have preferred the 25/1.4 but B&H sold out in less than 24h and I don't want to wait another 6 months for them to become available again at RRP (as opposed to the gougers on ebay, or even worse, buying one locally for $800...)

- B+W 46-52mm step-up ring for the above so I can use my existing filters and spare lens caps

- a Lexar Professional 1000x 32GB CF card for the 5DIII. From the tests I've read these things are like a supercharger for your camera if you have the right body (the camera, not me! )

- yet another Leica 14312 strap (I just love these things - this one will go on the G2)

BTW has anyone here seem/held or bought a Chamonix Saber? That thing looks like the business...

Scott

135-format Tri-X. If anyone in the UK is interested, 7DayShop currently has pretty good deals on this film.

Run it through a rock tumbler and then tell her it cost a tenner from Oxfam.

Here's hoping I don't have buyers (or sellers) remorse! Just sold off my whole Nikon kit (D700+lenses) and bought a Fuji X100

Now I'm just waiting on someone to get back to me about a secondhand R2a + Nokton 40mm combo and the transition away from a heavy ass kit will be complete!

You did what? You sold off one of the best full frame low light 35mm machines on the planet including lenses for a X100

Realistically it was more to fund the Bessa... Only used it once a month at most and I'm shooting film way more now anyway. Figured it was better to move onto something that will actually get some use rather than having the D700 sit there unused. Going to Japan in November anyway, if I really miss it I can easily pick up one for less than I sold mine for!

The X100 is just for holidays and stuff

Yes, the teak is darker. You're gonna have a lot of lenses!

Got the Velbon E630 yesterday ... Acratech GP is in transit, will post pics (or else it didn't happen) when they mate. Er ... not the actual mating event, just the aftermath.

The only thing that would make the Chamonix better would be titanium instead of aluminum. I have a great fondness for titanium; Ti may have saved my life.

Leica 35mm Summicron f2 ver.1 8-element. Pretty happy about this latest purchase, but still have to pay it off! Gonna be tough trying to figure out what to sell, if anything.
