It is weekend again!
I met up with Dave Lackey this morning, and we took some photos together with Lina.
What are you up to?

Just as I was wondering if you're too busy to post this weekend, Raid!
I'm scanning those rolls I mentioned above--nothing promising--and later on or tomorrow I'll probably order the E-PL1. It doesn't look like the deal you got with the kit zoom is going to reappear, so it will be a body only, to go with my Konica SLR lenses.

I forgot to mention that I spent part of my morning being a responsible citizen, taking my bit of spent developer and fixer to the annual collection in my town. What a drag that was. This is a good-sized town. Hazardous waste "day" in reality lasts four hours and happens once a year. You can imagine the line of cars.
I think I'm going to find a workflow with Caffenol and cut down on commercial developers as much as possible.

So you called Cameta Camera and they said tht they do not have the set anymore? Too bad, but the deal for the camera alone is grest too.

No, I haven't talked to them yet. The website shows the package deal out of stock, and no demo 14-42 lenses listed at all. Only new, without box, at $170.
I'm not particularly excited about the lens, anyway. At f/3.5 the DOF is, what, about 28mm f/8 in 35mm terms? You're practically in hyperfocal at all times. Nice to get for $50 extra, of course, but if that's no longer available, ah well.

Have a safe trip, Raid.
I need to get some shooting done for the FSU contest this weekend. The Contax is set up with Helios-103 and 200 color film and I guess the FED-2 will be wearing an I-26, straining to get enough light on some ancient Tasma film. Yeah baby, it's FSU all the way for that rig.

Thank you guys. For some reason, CNN is not reporting it, but BBC reported over 300 being injured and one got killed in Cairo today.

I will try to only go to places for sightseeing when some friends come with me so that there is strength in numbers. There is enough to do locally and without being close to any of the locations in Cairo where political unrest seems to centered.
The digital cameras are much lighter than had I used M bodies. This is good. I want to challenge myself to see if I manage to get good results with digital cameras only in the camera bag.

Good luck Raid.
Today I will be photographing the annual International migratory Bird Day at the San Pedro River in Arizona. Doing it pro bono for the Friends of the San Pedro River. Many events. Will be using a Pentax DSLR, a Canon S95, and a Pentax Spotmatic w/28/3.5 and Fujichrome. Probably several hundred pics by day's end. Fortunately most of the events are under huge shade trees.

Will be attending a photo swap meet here in Denver. Probably won't buy anything, or swap anything (What, me let something go? Ridiculous!). Hope to take portraits of the vendors on the floor holding their favorite cameras.

So, what's everybody been up to? Raid is in Cairo but asked to keep the thread going.
I'm on a steep learning curve with my new E-PL1. Full sun + manual focus lens = problem. I'm a little upset that scale focus is just not possible with my $20 ebay adapter, my lenses all focus way past infinity. Lesson learned.

Shooting my cousins wedding tonight with my Leica m2 and Pentax me super. Hopefully get about 3-4 36exp rolls shot. Really like using the Pentax and almost prefer SLR focusing more now than with RF.

Oh, been cleaning a Nikon F2, adding seals, checking the meter and loading with film in anticipation of shooting a roll of Legacy Pro 400 tomorrow in the rain!
Tried chasing the crazy dog all around the house today with a couple of different cameras but gave up!
