Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history!

I lost interest anymore. Protests like this achieve absolutely nothing besides financial damages to the cities and taxpayers. The world won't change a bit just because of some people smashing a few windows.

I wonder how long it will take before this thread gets hijacked into a political debate then gets deleted?

I was working as well. It's been a long time since I was an idealistic (and clueless) student, and even then, my studies didn't allow me time for such nonsense.

I've got a roll waiting for me to develop it, but I've a bit of a back catalog from shooting union stuff in this last month (11 rolls in one month, but that's probably small time for some of you guys). Hopefully I can get it done this weekend

I went out in Philly for a bit. Got a few shots, films getting developed.
It was just a small crowd with an overwhelming number of police on bikes and paddy wagons.

Actually, no. While I'm in full sympathy w/ the protestors, here in Daytona Beach there just isn't too much to demonstrate against. Oh, the economy could be better, but it's warm, the air is clean, the water is great, and the beaches are crowded. You can always catch crabs or fish off the piers (or just cast a net out in the surf), and the locally grown fruit and vegetables are delicious, cheap and plentiful. So, capitalists or no capitalists, life is sweet.

La dolce vita.

It would have been less of a fun little vandalism rampage if the police were.

Went to Occupy Oakland for the May Day Strike, they were teargassing people and when I got there, 60+ police was arresting one lone protester. What were they talking at KQED radio on the way up? "Oakland protest may delay traffic..." o.O

(yes, photos forthcoming - film XPan panoramic for today)

Sorry to hear that life was so rough for you.

As for me, I tried to go out during lunch a little. Suprisingly, not much action in the Wall St area.

May Day Oakland protest, see more at
http://www.richardmanphoto.com/blog/?p=3675

I used my Hasselblad XPan II and not my Leica M9 so I won't show the images here :-) Actually, the first image on the blog post was taken with the M9, but in Nov 2011:

From the Philadelphia Occupy event, before the massive amount of police showed up.

I missed the start of this thread as I was in Cuba on May 1st photographing "La Marcha" or the Workers Day March and festivities at Plaza de Revolucion. I was interviewed by a Russian TV news crew because I was American. I had to tell them that I was only a photographer and not someone making a political statement. I did meet the folks from the Havana School of Creative Photography where I may teach a workshop later this year.

It is hard to convey the thought that there were 200,000 workers in La Marcha with every workers group represented. This is a happy celebration, certainly not a protest.

well, there you go: a concise statement of what the "movement" is all about.
