Does the XA 4 count? An odd little camera with some strange vignetting tendencies, but sharp enough. I haven't tried my XA yet.

Recently picked up an XA, and it's fast becoming my favourite for the convenience. A few favourites from a recent trip to Japan:

Thanks! Not the easiest shot to do without a tripod and when you can't adjust the shutter speed, took me a couple of tries to get it right.

i purchased an XA2 on ebay earlier this week. Here are a couple of frames from the test roll. One was taken on a stroll in the neighborhood, the other was a shot my wife took of me to finish up the roll.

It performed pretty well I think. Focusing at a close distance is tricky. I had the odd overexposed frame. Maybe I was shading the light meter or something. I was worried about light leaks since the seals seemed pretty worn, but nothing major was leaking (and I exposed the thing to direct sunlight pretty well).

My first test roll dissapointed me and I simply stowed it away for several months. I decided to give it a try again, and now I'm in love with it.

I get a few hit and miss rolls, some with off focus, other with motion blur, but it's an all round great camera that very rarely leaves my pocket.

Thankyou! Sadly I had to pull apart, and subsequently broke, my XA. I didn't want to loose a roll of film with potentionally good shots, so you gotta do what you gotta do

Here's two photos from that roll of film, "throwaways" I guess, I'm saving the better ones for a project I'm working on. Horrible scan on the first, investing in a new scanner very soon!

I take mine around with me a lot. Recently I have been alternating it with a Gr1, much sharper, but rangefinder focus makes XA preferable to P&S in many situations.

Gliderbee, nice shots! I particularly like the first three. Your XA is in great condition. And I quite understand owning more than one.

mretina - I can't answer your flidkr question (when it comes to computers I can barely tie my shoes) but I just wanted to compliment you on your photographs, and that combination of film and scanner is absolutely perfect.

Perhaps someone here can help mretina?

mretina, In your flickr photostream, tap or click in the photo you want to copy. Then look for the "share" tab just above the photo; click on it, and a drop- down box will appear with the html/bbc code. Select and copy that code, and paste it into the message box in RFF. When you click "post quick reply" the photo image will appear.

Just go my first XA2 yesterday and I got to say , from the pictures and price and opinions on the internet, I was expecting something much lighter and plasticky so it relly blew my mind as to how well it is made. Shot almost the whole roll in the afternoon , and that never happens .

The Take Memories Home hummingbird shot is especially fine. Am hunting for an XA to add to my other Maitani machines. I hope to find one with decent RF focusing.

Yes, well; you see there's the internet and there's RFF. 'nuff said, I think.

Thanks, River Dog and Dana B. The XA that I used for the photos on this page I purchased from a member here. It's a little scuffed up, but fully operational, and has a larger rf patch than my other XA (so it's easier to focus). It's good to have a camera with a good lens that you can slip into a pocket.
