Does x100 still have sticky aperture probem

Hello All,

I am seriously looking at a x pro 1 or a x100 to work alongside some of my other gear.

Interested in the limited black version.

Can anyone advise whether the sticky aperture issues are now gone, I know that they usually replace the entire lens assembly when they correct this, or do you know if it has been cured in recent cameras?

Would rather not have to deal with an issue if I don't have too.

Thanks

I've had one since day one and haven't had the issue. I'm not sure there was any info about a particular serial number group that was effected. I have not heard of any new stories about this issue.

I've read up to 13XXXXXXX problems and after that no problems. I wanted to be sure and bought the black version. No problems so far.

I got mine new in early November and have had no issues. The X100 really does get a bit better with each firmware update.

I'm at ~4000 shots with a 13 serial and no problems.

My take on it is that the problem was not as huge as the internet made it seem. Yes, many were affected, but we don't get to hear how many were not affected. They did not do a complete recall so it can't be an issue with all cameras.

I also have heard many many stories saying that Fuji is very good to deal with about getting the lenses replaced.

Mine is a 13A and I have had no problems. I met a fellow yesterday who had sent his X100 in because of the sticky shutter. He wasn't happy about it (didn't really seem to like the camera much anyway, but was still carrying it). He was pleased that Fuji shipped his repaired camera back the day after they had received it.

I have no idea what the serial is atm, but I'd be interested to hear, how many people actually had this problem and especially what causes it.
Gonna have to send mine in for VF cleaning though.

If it develops the problem just send it in and fujifilm will have the revised lens unit on it and back to you within a week or 2. It's no big deal actually. From there, it won't happen again.

there is a thread on seriouscompacts where a fellow mentions speaking to a Fuji tech. Apparently the tech said only about 2% of cameras were effected. I have also read that a new style lens went into production around dec of 2011. I also recall reading that the first digit of a serial is the year, second digit is the quarter of that year, the letter is a geographic market code. So 13 is third quarter of 2011. This is from memory, so please don't take as fact.

X100s are going cheap used right now. Does anyone know if Fuji are honouring aperture fix for used units? My old X100 was used and the rumour then was that only first buyers were covered. A used X100 might satiate the desire for a new X2...

I just sent mine in and received it back the other day an out of warranty but free of charge repair. They did require a receipt and noted that the grey market cameras were not covered.

Food for thought.

Oh also it performs perfectly after the lens bloc was replaced.

Ciao
