| Digital Leica M8 / M8.2 / M9 / M-E /Mono / M10 aka "M" Discussions about the Leica M8 /M 8.2 / M9 / M9-P/ M-E / M Monochrom / M10 aka "M": Leica digital M mount rangefinder cameras. Naming the new digital M the "Leica M" is VERY unfortunate as it will only confuse newbies with other Leica M cameras of the the past. Happily there is room for confusion with only the past 59 years of Leica M production ... since Leica introduced the Leica M system in 1953. All Hail for the Leica Marketing Department learning Leica M history! |

Yes Jean-Marc, I only came around, to use it specifically last weekend.
It might well be changing my lens pairing from:
35/1.4 + M9/ film and 50/1 + M8.2 to
50/1 + M9/ film and 75/1.4 + M8.2 + 35/1.4 pre ASPH thrown in the bag for wider shots.
A dream is the 0.7m close focussing and it's complete change of face, when going from wide open (real Mandler rendering) to ƒ2 (extremely sharp and detailed rendering, almost too sharp for portraits).
Everybody should have one ;-)
Jean-Marc I enjoy your stuff by the way.

Wow, Great shots! what lenses did you use for these portraits?
|
Thanks, it's a Nikkor-S.C 5cm ƒ1.4 in LTM mount - a real beauty of a lens, that focusses very close and has a really nice classic Sonnar rendering!

Thanks Dirk,
The 75mm is on my wish list next to a M9 ...
Dirk, have you posted any 50/1 photos here on RFF?
Has anyone tested the new SLR magic 50/0.95?!!

Hey Jean-Marc, yes I did, although work and traveling keeps me busy lately.
Here is a recent one with the M8.2 + 75 Summilux:
and with the 50 Noctilux (not sure, could also have been with the M9):

M8 w/ Canon 1.2
Now that my LC1 Panasonic has officially died, I've had to reevaluate whether it needs replacement or if I have all the tools I need.
Took this shot with the M8 and a Canon 1.2 this week. I think I'll put some more miles on the M8 - and besides, if I need higher ISO, the E-P2 and D Summilux can help fill in the gaps Here's to the unfairly maligned M8 still pumping out strong images five years into its digital life.
