Thank you, Huub. It is indeed around the corner. It is the Middelpolder, near Amstelveen.

i have tried clean summitar and scared radioactive summicron.
summicron have much more detail than summitar, my copy summitar was a little bit soft.
i would love to try a elmar some day.

I was interested in the Summitar mainly for landscape photography (inspired by Graham Battison's photos w/ a Summitar and a Leica IIIf), but I discovered it has a propensity to flare badly, and so you need to use a hood, which makes it less than a compact package. The Elmar can flare, too, but w/ the little hood that Leica made for it, it's still makes a compact kit, and sometimes the flare can be nice:

I forgot to say that my shots above are all taken at f/2, except the Bridemaids, which is around f/2.8 (weird aperture scale on the old Summitar).
Here is one more, wide open:

I like the Elmar but that is egocentric. I have never owned the other but I have many great B&W pictures with my lens which I have proudly owned for almost 50 years; last year (the first):
1964
And I thought I'd put a fun color one in, but I'm sure the other one is just as good or even better (this one 1966):

Simply love the compactness of the 5cm f3.5 LTM elmar...my friend called it "pocket rocket"...so compact on a LTM Barnack you can easily put in the your pocket and it can be extended out like a rocket launcher...

That is true!
Right now I have have a Canon P with the large Canon 50 / 1.2 in a SLR camera back. The remaining one third of the space ist just enough to get a Zorki I with a Industar 22 (FSU Elmar copy) inside. It is a nice day & night set in a small camera bag.

I've had a bunch of Leica M 50, but kept one and only one 50: the glorious Summitar.

I succumbed and bought another Summitar (thanks Huub!), a glorious uncoated sample from 1939. This one is a keeper.

Still have the Elmar 50/3.5, though. That's a keeper, too.

Very nice Steve! Terrific lens. I'm popping mine up for sale tonight as I just don't use it much but you and others certainly show what can be done with this neat hunk of glass.

I have a bunch of shots that I posted with my summitar.
Except they're posted in the classifieds (where I happen to be selling a copy of this fine lens)...just in case anyone gets a case of GAS looking at these shots. (sorry for the shameless plug)
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/phot...essories/cat/2
And in terms of raw character, I prefer my uncoated nickel elmar:

So, at the risk of re-posting photos too many times, I offer this comparison of a scene at the UC Davis Arboretum that I've come to enjoy.
First, with a coated Elmar 50/3.5 from 1947:

And then an uncoated Summitar from 1939:

Both lens are fine but image quality is slightly better with the Summitar.
I use both..
