But I will tell you this: I had the same concept, save some money and use my phone. It's not the best plan in the long run as the sensor varies per Droid and the readings are not the best. Used it for about 6 months and realized that I'd rather have a Real Handheld meter that would last me Decades if I took care of it. Bought A Sekonic L-398A Studio Deluxe III on the recommendation of a Lab Instructor and have been satisfied ever since.
Just trying to get used to the thing though...that takes time.
