I believe Fuji were quoted at one time as saying $1000. Nobody believed them and currently bets are being taken in the $2000 to $2500 range. I don't think a rapid release is planned - they're apparently more focussed on getting the X100 to market.
Nevertheless, I'm rather keen to know more myself.

I guess it'll be similar to the GF670 although being a folder that one was probably more complex so it may be a bit cheaper.

Won't the Wide be a folder, too?

The 55mm focal length puts the lens so close to the film plane, there is no room for a folding mechanism. There is a front panel which sits roughly where the front standard would be if the folder were closed, and the lens/shutter combo is fixed to that fixed front panel. There were pictures of the prototype floating around when rumors of the "wide" first started.

No folding, no bellows.

I am not sure about the space constraints. The 50/4.0 lens for Mamiya 6 still allows for the collapsing of the lens mount by about 3 cm (!). I guess Fuji just wanted to save some money OR the lens is a different design. 55 on 6x7 is like 28 on 24x25 - so not THAT wide.

The loaner is an early sample to shoot a project that will result in some advertising photographs.

If anybody is interested, I can translate more.

Holy cr4p, that's $3,367.04 at today's exchange rate!

Dunno guys. I think that's a lot of money for a slow lensed, 1/500 top speed, knob advance (!) camera.

I don't think it will cost that much. The link says "it will cost more than the current Bessa III which costs 2000 Euro" and the rumored price of the Bessa IIIW is quoted as 2450 Euro. So I think we can expect the price of the Bessa IIIW to be around $2700 with the Fuji version being quite a bit cheaper.

This is why I offered to translate...

The "more than the current Bessa III" rumor is from September.

The current rumor is 275,000 yen = 2,450 euros = $3,360 (per www.xe.com)

Also, you would not be able to buy the Fuji version in the US and expect it to get serviced under warranty.

Yep. The Bessa III Wide is now in transit to CQ.

$2999

Production is very very limited. Cosina was only able to ship me 1/6th of my initial order in the first shipment. No idea when I will receive more.

So, let me get this straight.
Owning both Bessa III and the wide version will cost me less than an M9 (body only) ???

The printer in me drools... 6x7 negatives from a Fuji lens is just. plain. cool.

My new toy - the Bessa 667W. Arrived today - my 120 film is thawing out (was in the freezer). We are heading off for a short trip in the next couple of days - and this one is coming along - might even forsake one M to make room for it.
