Photos from China

I rolled the dice and took the X100 to China as my only camera. When it worked, it worked very well, but I did get a lot of "turn the camera off and on again" messages and the shutter speed dial doesn't work. It is off to get repaired, so while it is away, here are a few photos from the trip. There are more on the Flickr account that these link to if you are curious. Thanks for looking!

Wonderful colours. From the camera, or done in post?

The x100 is quite special in regards to colors it seems. Great work by the photographer though!

The first thing I noticed is the shots are just strong images...no shots of random nothing just to say "I shot with the X100" -- I've been to China 5 times and I'd be very happy with any of these.

Very well seen. The colour is indeed nice - shame about the missed opportunities due to camera malfunction.

I like the images, they are great. I don't understand why the above posters are saying the colors are great. To be it looks like the saturation is up way past 11. The colors, to me, are garish and totally fake.

I agree. I've seen tons of pics on flickr and around the web taken with velvia that I thought were digital at first, but it turns out that's just how velvia looks.

I usually shoot B&W, and that is an even larger departure from reality and even more "fake." There were a lot of bold colors in the scenes that I encountered, so I wanted a saturated slide film look in order to bring them out.
