Nikon F repair

Has anyone recently had a Nikon F repaired in the US? I have a black F with a shutter / mirror issue. I am curious as to a really rough idea of cost. I know where I can get a beautiful Black "Apollo" for abut $200 I would probably do that but my F has the F36 motor on it. I do know you can switch the plate for the motor but they don't always mesh well after that. If I remember the motors had to be fitted to the bodies. I just don't know if it is worth fixing? Any thoughts welcome.

If I had it, there's only one guy I'd have repair it, but he's not in the USA. He's Sover Wong in the UK. soverf2repair@yahoo.com. He did a beautiful job on my F2as.

He has a lot of parts too.

Bill

I think Pete Smith in Florida can work on it. His e-mail is (I think) nikonsmith@aol.com. Others here have used his services and can give you the right address.

Bill - Precision Camera & Video (one of RFF's sponsors) estimated $200 for mine with a similar problem. I'm about to send it off

Pete Smith is a top repairer of Nikon F. Right now he is a bit backlogged, and has had mine for about 5-6 weeks.

You might want to give him a call to discuss your camera. He's at Delray Camera: 561-278-3331. Phone has been better than e-mail for me with Pete.

Thanks for the help. It sounds like Pete maybe my guy. Not ready to pay $50 for shipping to the UK, at least not for my F. My F2 probably.

F Repair

Sover serviced my black F Apollo about three weeks ago. It's now working really smoothly.
