My name is Marc and I have a problem...

I'm a total gear hog.

After weeks of reading about the X100 - I pulled the trigger tonight and ordered one from precision camera

Why did I not just do this on day one and get on the early shipment list ?

Congratulations. Tell us about the camera when you get it. Show us some results.

Hehe... because you listened too much to RFF's in house everthing-skeptics?

Congrats though - I want one but financially I'm gonna have to wait. I'd be super interested in some impressions of it though!

Congrats ... sometimes you just have to give in and accept the inevitable.

I wasn't going to get one but fate has a strange way of intervening at times and now I have an X100 on order!

You mean the voices of reason saying "Don't spend $1200 on something you've never seen just because someone else, whom you don't know and who hasn't seen it either, writes rose-tinted epic poetry about it on the Internet"?

And yet lots of people committed far more than that on Leica M8 and M9! And we saw what happened! Pentax had a similar problem recently with some faults in the K5 sensors. I've read of M9 sensors suffering cracks in the glass sheet that covers the sensor. And Sony had a huge recall program years ago over faulty sensors in a range of cameras including those of other big makers.

Problems can arise, and reputable companies deal with them properly. We can expect the X100 to perform as advertised - in fact consumer laws will enforce that. It might not turn out to be what you wanted or hoped for or wished for, but that is another issue! It's just another digital camera after all, with almost nothing new except the viewfinder. I can't understand why some people are getting so agitated about other people's enthusiasm. If you're sick of reading about it - stop!
