Zeiss Ercona I tripod socket?

I have a newbie question: the tripod socket size for Ikontas (the W.German cousin of the Ercona) is 3/8" (0.95 cm). However, when I measured the inside diameter of the tripod socket, it is more like 0.75 cm. Before I order a 3/8" quick shoe, does anyone use tripods with the Ercona or know what size the socket should be?
Thanks.

p.s. The scale measurement works out well for the 1/4" (~0.6 cm) shoes, so that led to this rather silly question.

It's correct. You're just measuring the tips of the female screw thread. The grooves are deeper.

I use a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter on my Ercona. It works fine.
