at least at the extremes, I'd go to the sony site or costco and pay $100 more to get the 16mm prime, then sell or give away the kit zoom.

In the states at least the zoom is $50 in the kit.

For me, it is too slow, and has too much distortion on the wide end.
The build quality appears the same as the prime, but when extending it from the wide end, a plasticy thing comes out the front, very cheap, IMHO.
I've seen some good images from the lens in bright light, but not at the wide end.

You have the right Henry's. Sale ends the 3d. Try the CDN Henry's site.
www.henrys.ca
US Currency store does not make the same offer.

On the other hand the distortion (shifting from barrel to pincushion) is unusually high on the zoom.
I bought the NEX for use as a panorama camera, it is certainly not going to replace my GF1 lens-wise.
With software correction the kit lenses on the GF1 are simply spectacular, but not so much on the SONY.
On the other hand so far the SONY has done what I wanted it to do very well, however I believe will most likely pick up an adapter and use some of my LTM lenses on it.
By the way FPjohn, gave up on Henry's the site redirects to .com, maybe if you are not in Canada, but displays canadian prices anyway.

Hello:
The Zoom seems to be capable

as the above user demonstrates.

Sorry about your travails photomoof. There is a currency choice link in the lower left corner of both the CDN and US Henry's sites.

When the sale first started the website stated in store only.Since then they seem to have put it up for web sales also.IPurchased the nex 5 on the 24th and if I knew about the sale I would have waited for this camera. And yes,it's still on the henrys site for $399.00.The EP-1 is also there with kit lens for $399.00.
