Good Map App for iPhone?

hi travelers ! while Google maps integration in iPhone works really well, it might not be a good idea for long periods abroad and data roaming.

so, recommendations for an app that has preloaded maps and integration with iPhones GPS would be greatly appreciated

if mods think this belongs to another forum, feel free move it.

found this from App Store and it looks promising. perhaps will give that one a try if no other candidates arise.

I was looking for the same thing before my trip to Beijing. I finally settled for City Maps 2 Go. It relies on the Openmap format instead of google maps so the street names don't always show up, but I like the fact that it can be used offline and they have maps for most major cities. You just buy the app and maps are free. They seem to be pretty good with keeping their maps updated too. There is also a rudimentary map pin system that allows you to mark out points of interest before your trip. The tip to using it is to allow about 30sec to 1min for the GPS to achieve an accurate lock on your position, otherwise you'll experience some initial frustration with figuring out why it doesn't seem to be locating you on the map correctly. With the app, I navigated Beijing with confidence and didn't get lost once

if you need GPS tracking I'd recommend GPS Motion X. very accurate and has plenty of map sources (openstreetmap, bing, google, etc.). the downsize with all the gps tracking apps is they consume battery real FAST
