X100 - No black body?
This Fuji X100 looks very interesting (and so is the GXR A12 28mm) but so far no sign of a black X100 body?
Or are Fuji going to do like Leica with the X1. Release a black body a bit late? Usually I can't stand silver cameras but decided to make a one off for the old Minolta Dimage EX zoom and the 28mm f1.9 module because I liked the output too much and there was no real equivalent. Thankfully it is 'just' matte silver.

Well the silver is what IMHO, is getting us all gussied about. It is just so classic looking. Maybe someday we will find out if it works.

No, that's not at all what's exciting me.
I don't care whether it's silver or black – I just want it to work really, really well.

I know I'd prefer black and told Fuji as much via their comment section on the X100 microsite.

I think they should follow Pentax's lead and offer an array of colors.

It's still a prototype- time will tell what they offer.
Most fixed-lens RF's were offered Chrome Only, few exceptions. The Canonet Ql17l and GIII were both offered in black, cost an extra $10.

I understand letting aesthetics sway your opinion of a camera, but are you really going to let the fact that it is silver keep you from buying it?

I think we are drawing some odd conclusions from a non-functional prototype. The final product could look very different.

I'm not so sure this is the typical prototype... I mean they have sites up, documentation about it, videos, etc. I think it is close to a final design ...

Agreed. They've even posted MTF plots for the lens. Many mfr's don't even do that for released cameras.

From evidences so far seen, you know: demo models in Photokina, press releases, optical diagrams for O/EVF, MTF curves, web site with updating, etc. etc.; if the camera is really just a development announcement, I wish other would have done half as well.

yeah, the Fuji X100 cart is way ahead of the horse.
As for the color, I'd get spray paint.

I'll wait until I see one for sale to see what color it shows up in, as well as what the production camera looks like.
A black version would be cool though.

When the Olympus Micro 4/3rds prototype was unveiled, I thought it was pretty cool looking- remember? It looked like a tobacco tin in a tan leather cummerbund. Looked nothing like the EP1.
Saying that, the X100 looks pretty advanced and specific, so I can't imagine that the finished product will look much different.
Whatever, it's bound to have a deal breaking flaw of some sort for plenty of people.... I must admit, I'm quite excited by it.... we'll have to see...
