Rangefinder accuracy w/ lenses

Dont know if this was posted before, but I noticed that when I focus my 50mm Elmar-M at the Infinity mark with my MP, the split image is not in total focus. The lens focus stops before the double images in the far distance perfectly coincide together. Therefore the split image does not appear to be in perfect focus. It just needs a couple "hairs more". Now when I use the same lens on my M7, the rangefinder allows the split image in the far distance to coincide before the lens focus stops at the infinity mark. Should the rangefinder or lens be adjusted? Any suggestions? I tested my other lenses and all seem fine. Its just that my M7 allows the lens's focus ring a tiny bit more focus room after the split images are in focus.

Thanks

This happens, even if both camera and lens are in spec - it has to do with alignment of RF and lens cam.

In practice, at f2.8, the Elmar has a hyperfocal distance of 30m (on film). Everything beyond that will be in focus, so a very small alignment error is no problem.

Shoot some photos and check the results. Likely, it won't matter.

Roland.
