Fuji rangefinder spares info

First… apology upfront. I have to admit that this is my first post and I'm after something! All I can hope is that It might help someone else out too.

I'm after any new information anyone might have on spares for Fuji rangefinders, specifically a GW 6x9 III. I have tried a search on this forum and tried to follow the leads but without success. Fuji UK tell me that parts for these cameras are few and far between and have moved all their servicing to another company , The Camera Repair Workshop. They in turn say that they have very few parts and cannot help without having the camera in for service and somewhat to my shame I have asked them more than once about this. Emails to European Fuji addresses bounce as do one to the US. Fuji UK also suggested www.japanexposures.com but they only seem to have accessories rather than spares. They do have some other interesting stuff though.

What I need are couple of easily replaceable external parts mainly for cosmetic reasons. I have part numbers from the Fuji service manual which I obtained from www.camerabooks.com. Interestingly one of the most recent posts here is after exactly the same part as me; the spirit level cover. I have only had the camera a few weeks and have just lost this piece which is really irritating. What I can't believe is that there really aren't any parts anywhere. Many of the parts of the MKIII are common to the MKII, ( the service manual is combined) and probably the earlier cameras and they made many thousands of them. I wonder if there is a source in Japan?

Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. It's a nice camera. When I bought it I hoped to smarten it up a bit cosmetically anyway with some parts and now really would like to at least replace that spirit level cover as it has become an obviously missing part.

Matt.

Try this gentleman

I've had him repair and replace bellows on Fuji's, and work on my Fuji GA645Zi. He seems to have close connections with Fuji, as he acquired parts for my Zi on short notice. He's been very reasonable price wise, although he's busy and usually a bit backed up.

"Frank Marshman at Camera Wiz in Harrisonburg, VA is often mentioned on photo.net as an expert with Fuji rangefinders.

1-800-471-8133; 540-434-8133

Unfortunately, he does not have a website but he can certainly be reached with the numbers above. It's been over 3 weeks since I sent my GS645 in for a bellows replacement and CLA, but haven't received it back yet. I'll keep this forum posted with the results."

This from another post elsewhere.

Hi Matt,

I am the guy who was looking for the spirit level cover. I found someone on US ebay (romancamerarepair) who sells complete top covers: He claimed the spirit level cover is only available with a complete top cover. Since his prices were quite ok, I ordered one in the middle of December (but did not receive it yet, I live in Germany). He is selling a vast selection of parts for all Fuji rangefinders. I think he still has some GW690III top covers (new) for sale...
Since I am alsways afraid of my cameras being damaged or so, I am very disappointed that Fuji does not care any more for these cameras...

Regards,
Jan

Thanks Jan. I found the Roman Camera site and have contacted them and await a reply. I have my fingers crossed. I too think it's a shame that Fuji seem to have simply dropped any support for these cameras. The thing that frustrates me is that there must be zillions of parts out there somewhere that someone would like to sell and I would like to potentially buy.

Matt.

Hi Matt,

exactly - IŽd also definitely buy some parts like shutter, back door, ranhefinder - the critical ones which keep the camera working. By the way, I just received my parts from Roman camera, everything went fine.

Regards,
Jan

Me too. Just received a new top plate and a few other parts. So if anyone finds this thread and is after Fuji rangefinder parts try http://www.romancamera.net or their ebay shop.

Matt.
