6 months is unacceptable, IMHO.

He doesn't do curtain replacement though like Don or Sherry..however I feel that 6 months was a bit too long no matter what needed fixing.
I still have confidence in Dons work but hope he gets the wait down to a reasonable limit..

RFF members should stop talking him up, so his backlog can work down.

With all due respect, isn't quite true.. .
Youxin does shutter replacement as all other mechnical treatment and parts repalcement. He did replace both curtains in two beater M3's I've sent him some time ago, as well as some other minor mechancal parts.
What Youxin doesnt' do - anything that is related to electronics (M5 and up) and a complex optical repairs (RFs)...but otherwise, he is a real Master of classic mechanics...

Youxin did a complete shutter replacement on an M3 for me earlier this year.

When I contacted him last December about shutter curtain replacement his response was that he does not do curtain replacement. He then offered me $50 for it as parts..
While Don took his time he did fix it right..

I sent Youxin an M4 which he received yesterday. It needed a CLA, and it had a stuck shutter. He emailed me last evening saying the job was complete, which included a CLA, a shutter curtain replacement, and replacement faux vulcanite for the back door.
Pretty amazing turnaround time, and a very reasonable price.

Wow, back in 2006 I got my IIIf RD/ST back in a couple of weeks, but all it needed was a proper CLA - It is now like new! -

Weird, he did exemplary job on both of M3 I've sent to him, including replacement of both curtains in both cameras.

Wow, Colyn, perhaps you somehow mesed up and contacted a wrong Youxin.. ?
I just find it very hard to believe he would behave like you implied, he was very corteous with me and with all other fellows I'm aware abuot who got their cameras CLAed/repaired by him...

I'm torn, my M6 has a sticky shutter, I'm sure a CLA would make it smooth as anything but I'm shooting so much I can't afford to send my camera off for any period longer then a week. Frustrating.

A simple solution - buy another M and use them in interleaved manner - while one will be out for CLA, you'll be shooting with the other one and backward....
Acquirign my M3, that was the other reason for em as well targetting my M6 for a basic CLA and RF upgrade in a foreseable future...

Youxin has been a gentleman in all my dealings with him, and he is conservative on his ETAs, at least in my experience. This is the first time I've heard anything the least bit negative...
