gossen pilot vs pilot 2

I don't think there is much of a difference between the Gossen Pilot and Pilot 2. Their appearance and specifications are nearly identical ... perhaps there are some minor internal differences in the components used. I purchased a used Pilot on eBay about a year ago and have been very happy with it.

it's hard to find info on the pilot but lots ouit there on the pilot 2.
for the pics (on ebay) there are some small differences.
one thing i read seem to suggest that the original pilot was more robust than the pilot 2.
i'll soon find out as i have one of each on the way but i was curious.

who has the big meter collection here on rff?

You might be able to find some info here with a little searching http://www.gossen-photo.de/english/index.html . If not at least it is an interesting site for info on older meters. They respond to emails with questions on their products.

Joe, unless cost is an overriding factor, I'd opt for the Digisix which is small and full-featured. B&H Photo sells them for $129.95 while MSRP is $199.95 I believe.

BTW, I've just received a Gossen Luna-Pro (old model originally using mercury batteries) and it's HUGE. In typical German fashion it's built like a rock and I immagine it's about as difficult to destroy as a tank. After zeroing it, it agrees precisely with my Capital CdS meter.

i already have a pilot 2 and it works great, is accurate for my work and is feather lite.
i just bought another pilot 2 and a pilot and was wondering what the differences might be.
this was some rambling curiosity on my part while waiting for both to be delivered.
i like the lite weight plus hard shell protection of the pilot 2 and for b&w negative work they are dead on, exposure wise.

part of the attraction has also been the very low prices i have paid for them. $30. being the highest.

I rather suspected that might be the case but jumped in should it not be. All I've ever read about the Pilot model Gossens has been good and your experiences seem to verify that.

I once bought a Weston Master V from a military BX in Germany (1972?) and liked it but after years of use it broke and I don't recall what I did with it. The Luna-Pro is the first Gossen I've owned and I'm impressed with the build quality.
