Paul made in the "Show your photos from a vintage folder" thread, i took the liberty of starting an own thread for this issue.
so share the old photographs, your ancestors made. no matter what camera they used.

Good idea. Here's a montage from my family album taken by my Mum and Dad - who was a very keen photographer. No prizes for guessing the identity of the guy with the camera in 1975 I think wearing a dress set me back a few years though.

Both of my parents were for the most part, awful photographers. I know this because I was one who digitized all the family albums a few years ago. I did come across a few very good photos none the less. But I have a sneaky feeling that they didn't actually shoot them.
For instance, my mom when she was Mills College
Though this should have been taken by my dad
and since both my rents are in this shot I know they didn't take it

Thanks dct. She is a cutie, even now at 80. But all her children laughed and laughed at this photo. Mom's honeymoon was watching dad fish.

I suspect all three pictures were taken by Uncle Herman who was the only immediate member of the family with sufficient funds to take pictures at that time.

I love the light effect on this one! Looks like a bit HDR or something... its unnatural but really cool. I've seen this in Helmut Newton's polaroids too. (Looking his jacket and her feet)

These photographs were taken by my Grandfather around 1960. There is my Grandpa Grandma, my Mom and my Aunt.He was our family photographer since about 1946-47. They were taken with one of Moskva cameras. After Moskva he used Zorki 2, that was stolen, and Kiev 4a, which I presently have. I think he is responsible for having me taking interest in photography, even though I wish I did it earlier in my life to learn from him.

Taken in Alabama, Talladega County area, 1920's. I have the negative stored, but this print is far more interesting. This is my grandmother, an aunt & uncle, and my great-grandmother.

Me, in the mid/late 70's. Pretty sure my uncle took this.
I guess I didn't need much persuasion

Found a bunch of (very dirty) slides in a storage unit taken by my grandmother. This one kind of stood out to me....
