Zach Arias x-pro1 review
He's a great guy and I thoroughly enjoyed his review. Very honest. Enjoy.

The way I see it, if you use a DSLR or whatever gear frequently and don't pine for a smaller/specialized little RF style camera with autofocus, don't worry about the x-pro1 or the x100. You won't need/like them.
If you use a DSLR a lot and hate lugging it around, pass up opportunities to take it with you to places because it spoils the moment having it on your shoulder, and don't care for manual focusing (e.g. - you just want a small/light camera with a real viewfinder), then you will like the x-pro1/x100.

I wouldn't call this a truly independant review, knowing Fuji actually donated him the camera and lenses. I like his enthusiasm, but he should start with the disclaimer: "Fuji just paid me $3000 dollar to review their new xpro1 set... read on in case you still think me trustworthy now".

Actually, as I read it, he more or less did exactly that: Also, let me state for the record that I was hired by FujiFilm Middle East, and was paid in camera gear and cash to take this machine for a joy ride. The first thing I said before taking this gig, though, was if I was going to blog about it they needed to understand that I would say whatever I wanted to about it. The good folks at Fuji said they expected nothing less. Especially after my x-100 review. It was that review that put me on their radar in the first place and it was the good folks at Gulf Photo Plus that convinced them they should send me to India. I’ll be doing some stuff with Fuji North America as well.

i find the Zack report interesting. He explains honestly how he did get the camera from Fuji. The photo posted are good, and where someone could have doubts about this camera (autofocus speed?) Zack made a clear statement. I think anyway that the only way to know if this can be your (our?) camera is to test it personally. I own a camera which was reported to have a very slow autofocus and when I bought it I realized it was true. But I also realized that I could work with it, using some "tricks" from the old before autofocus days. Shall I buy an x1 pro? Don't know, first I will look for a way to try it!

I think it was reasonably honest review. He's the only person I've read or heard from who has raved about the (IMHO, useless) "Q" button!

WRT the "Q" menu. I find it convenient, I just wish it was editable. There are a few items I would replace with more convenient items.

I don't disagree; I probably should have written "useless as currently programmed." Right now, I keep hitting it accidentally because it's where my thumb thinks the AE-L/AF-L lock or some other button ought to be.
Aside from the ergonomics, I understand that it's supposed to be a kind of shortcut button, but, as is, it pulls up 16 options, which still seems like a ridiculous # to an old fogey like me & not much of an edit compared to the regular "Menu OK" button.

so are they any of you all who require a minimum of 2.50+ diopter correction using this camera with no difficulty? Or, is there a workaround?

I'm using an eyepiece from Nikon FM2 on my Xpro1. The Nikon FM line had quite many different diopter correction eyepieces, they can be purchase on the bay for about 20$

I have an X-Pro1 (paid with my own money), I have read Zach review and I do believe he is honest. The fact that he goes at great length to put up the disclaimer is already a good sense of honesty.
And I love the Q button as it is, and tend to dislike the placement of the AE-L/AF-L that I end up always missing.

Ha, I would love to see a firmware update that allowed me to switch the function(s) of those 2 buttons.
Different strokes . . .
