photosmart 7660 and Vista

Hi,
I have a hp photosmart 7660 that has produced pretty good bw prints. Recently my hard drive crashed and I am now using the other computer at home which is running Vista instead of XP. Now, there is no 7660 driver for Vista so I am using a hp deskjet 5600 driver. (Found some reccomendation to use this). But I am not so sure about the prints anymore. Has only made two but I get the feeling that the dedicated bw ink cartridge is not used.
Has anyone experience of using 7660 with Vista?
Regards,
Ola

Are you sure that there is no driver for this printer? You may not need a dedicated HP driver for this , by the way. YMMV, but I recently connected an (ancient) HP photosmart (dont know the model offhand, but I got it circa 2003) printer to my new laptop (running Win7), and rather than using the driver that I had on CD and/or what HP suggested (both of which kept on crashing), I just plugged the printer in while the computer was on, and Microsoft's plug&pray took over, and it is actually working.

I know, surprising outcome for MS products, but have you tried that?

Good luck!
