| Photogs / Photo Exhibits This is the place to discuss a particular Photographer (work, style, life, whatever), as well as to post Gallery and Museum Photo Exhibitions and your own impressions of them. As we march on in this new digital world, it is often too easy to forget about the visual importance of the photographic print, as well as their financial importance to the photographer. It is also interesting to remember that some guy named Gene Smith shot with lenses that many lens test reading "never had a picture published in their life" amateurs would turn up their their noses at, as being "unacceptable." |

LFI 01/2012 – Portfolio Martin Herrera Soler: Discarded.
I am a regular reader of the RFF, mainly through my RSS feed. Today for a change I wanted to post and share the news that a recent project I produced in Uruguay got published in the January issues of the LFI magazine. It's a pretty exciting feeling to see my work printed in a magazine. It also reconfirms what I have known for a while, and that is how much I enjoy shooting with the Leica M. Happy new year to all! Martin.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful pictures as they deserve all praise. Using relatively larger apertures has accentuated your subjects against backgrounds masterfully. The color (processing) seems perfectly adequate to the timeless but a bit gloomy character of the thema. You made me feel myself at this diesel smelling train service station.
BTW, it would be very useful for many of us if you have provided some information about the lenses used.
Regards,
Bob

Bob, everything was shot with a 35lux. A few images were shot with an m8, so the field of view it's closer to a 50. Most of them are shot with an m9 so it's a pure 35. Any questions don't hesitate to ask.

How did you get the honor to be in the LFI?

Actually I just submitted the work and they liked it. It took a really long time for it to be published. Possibly first contact was over a year ago. After that once they were ready I had to submit information, captions, high-res images, etc.
