I remember when this rumor started and it just never went away. Even if it was true I never took this as a knock against the camera.

It certainly would not have been a knock against the camera. The D90 sensor is terrific. With respect to the comment that the X100 sensor is made by Fujifilm the question is what that actually means. In whose fab? Based on which precursor technologies? As usual, we'll just have to wait and see how the images look over time. What I've seen so far is very promising. Is it class-leading? I don't actually care. What I care about is whether it's good.

Couldn't agree more.

I would be more than happy with a D90 sensor. I used to own a D300 and it was a great for APS-C. Anything better is just gravy.
