I haven't tested it (I haven't used my Canon lens in a while), but I picked up a Walz straight vented hood which was 40mm. Relatively low profile and looks decent.

Get a Voigtlander one. I picked up a few generics along the way and the thickness was off on a few of them. I haven't had any problems with Voigtlander adapters. You can grab them on ebay for $30-40.
