Thanks, Simon. I think I will try it. BTW, have you tried his "shade" for the M6 flare?

Simon Larbalestier 11-01-2006 12:08

I've got two of Lutz's "shades" from ages ago but i never used them as they darken the viewfinder too much and a lot of what i do is now in poor light.

Since I don't own a digital camera, but I can't resist joining this thread, I had my teenage son do the honors.

Here's my simple but much beloved M3 and Summitar combo, with Gordy's natural leather strap.

Here's my humble contribution to this thread...

First goes my 1957 M3DS with a '55 collapsible 'cron and MR meter (from the 60s), in a nice leather case (thanks, Gabo!).

Then, my black Leica M6TTL with my Elmarit 28/f2.8 (3rd version).

And, in the end, my silver M6TTL with my black 'cron 50.

Thanks for the chance to brag! :)

SolaresLarrave 11-01-2006 20:09

Oops! Before I forget... thanks, Alkis, for the glorious picture of the M2 and a 'lux in silver. You've helped me cement some resolve about a purchase.

Take care! :)

I don't, are you just rubbing it in my face? :D

Just rubbing it in your face. :)
This is the one lens I would not be without. Certainly would go nicely with your MP.

Roland.

Roland. Thanks

It's between this and the 50 lux for me. I like using both for different looks of course.

My relatively new, old M6 Classic with the original owner's black tape removed.

This is my M2. The vertical is off in the rangefinder, the bottom three slow speeds are hectic, and sometimes interchangeable, my framelines are a bit faint, and I think the meter is off a couple of stops. The lens is great though, all the others you can work around. Looking forward to my Summarit showing up, unfortunately it's coming via UPS, hopefully they don't rip me off too bad. All I want now is a 35, and an M3. Maybe next year. In the meantime, this is the worst thread ever, also along with the thread showing off LTM's, and the Ikon's. Also all the posts that lead to auctions, and super auctions ( MP-227 anyone, only 20000 plus ).

Dougg 11-04-2006 15:37

Nice rig, Jeff! That big white-on-black lettering above the rewind release sure does jump out strongly doesn't it... and the red dot of course. I can see why the original owner chose to cover those. My M2 looks like Mark's just above only it's a button-rewind, so no markings or dot on the front at all. Enjoy! :)

Colyn, do you actually use the winder or do you just have it for whatever reason? I just can't see how something so large and bulky can be of any use. If you do use it and enjoy it, more power to you, I'm just wondering.

For most of my shooting I don't use it but if I'm shooting action it is very handy.
The main reason I got it was because of the price...$200

raid 11-04-2006 17:37

Other camera systems can have very thin winders. The M winder reminds me of my heavy large motor drive for the original Canon F1.

Here's a pic of my pair of M's before I broke them up, and a solo shot of the black one with black pebble grain cameraleather cover and black dot. Both cameras had the MP finder upgrade and 35/50/90 framelines only. I called them my "M2TTL's"

Kevin,

How did you black out the writing on the front of the black M6? Paint?

Dave.

Didier 11-06-2006 01:19

M6 (1986) with 75/1.4 Summilux, CV 75mm finder; TA rapidgrip & softie, Leicagoodies SLING, STEER and SLIDE.
Mine's a user so don't expect it to be clean.

Agree, a M6 with 75/1.4 and TA grip IS fat, but a Nikon F1 with 85/1.4 Zeiss and motor is MUCH MUCH MUCH fatter.

[And the F1 cannot be turned into a lightweight compact hiking camera like my M - see pic above]...

:p :p Didier
