Recently acquired Leica M5 with VC 40mm f1.4 and Mr. B soft release...

errorlogin 03-05-2011 04:18

My new to me user Leica M2. Looks like it was fully serviced not long ago, but I do not know where and who did it..... it looks like the 4 front screws are not original. :(

Was a good buy anyway for less than 300€ without lens, I think.

It is now almost two weeks, since I sold my bulkiest unused Nikon stuff and got the long wanted black paint MP.

I guess, it takes me longer though, to get it to be "my MP" similar to my M8.2, which has been my daily companion for the last year.

Whoa, what lens and mount is that?

Dave, I like your tongue in cheek compliment. Its amazing how much fun it is to use that lens on a camera older than me.

ZoomP 03-06-2011 04:00

Been using the Luigi half case with its built-in grip, but realised it's tiring hand-held with a longer lens like the VC 75 f1.8.

So changed to my old M8 A&A case and put the thumbs up back on.

Let's see how it holds with these setting.

Rover is that a Summaron on your M2, lovely little lens!

kshapero 03-06-2011 05:32

Rover, really nice.

rover 03-06-2011 05:35

Thank you.

Hans, that is a 50mm Elmar.

Now imagine, Leica would have made a chrome version of the Noctilux :D

MrDan 03-07-2011 06:58

I want a BP MP bad... very nice.

Also, the brassing on the 8.2 is just elegant. How long did you have the camera?

What kind of strap is that? It doesn't need the metal ring?
Anyway that is a pretttyyy camera! Does the MP3 have 35mm frames?

Pandachief 03-07-2011 16:50

It is the old style Luigi Strap. Already out of production. It won't scratch the ear of a brand new camera which is good!

MP-3 have 35-50-90 frameline... not like the original MP with M3 framelines.

What a combo ! Really beautiful!

efix 03-07-2011 23:11

Pandachief, the M3+Noct combo looks wonderful! Do you have some pictures to share? (In a different thread of course!)

Hi... actually, the old production version I have are very different to the one currently available. It have shoulder pad, slighter wider and with softer leather. I purchased the very last 6 from Luigi from some very old stock he have over 10 years ago.

Thanks efix, I took lots of pics in the past weekend with that combo. It is now processing and I will share some shortly. I did used this lens a lot with my M9 instead of the BP M3.

"M8.2 vs MP"

I documented the still new looking MP for later reference with some comparison to the chubby Leica (no M5 though) ;-)

I changed some Nikon stuff for the MP and I don't regret it a bit ;-)

Mister E 03-08-2011 21:45

Your MP is too clean!

Hehe - it's two weeks with that new little thing by now. I will certainly solve that. Let's see it in a year or two (the M8.2 is about a year in use, but get's used more than the film body will, I guess).

That certainly can't be, as Pandachief's black M3 + Nocti is already ;)

Roberto V. 03-09-2011 00:25

Guys, please stop posting pictures of your M's with Noctilux and 35mm 'lux asph, I'm going to have to become a hitman or sell a kidney to buy those lenses ;)
Oh well, I'll have to "settle" for a 50mm 1.1 and 35mm 1.2 Voigtlander kit for the near future :D

You can achieve the high gloss by multiple coat of car polish!!
