:)

Indeed the black dot does look better. Sadly there's no leicavit-extension (for whatever purpose) for the M8.

kywong 08-24-2009 04:51

Ooh is that griptac on your M8?

reuno 08-24-2009 07:11

Erik van Straten 08-24-2009 08:58

I like your black M2 the best of the lot.

Erik.

This is no repaint, but a black paint M3 made by Leitz on special order in the early seventies to match a Noctilux 50mm f/1,2. Unfortunatly the previous owner sold the lens before I could jump on it. It is however a very fine super smooth BP M3.
There is no lens release guard, because it was (re)build to the specs of the latest model M3 that did not have the release guard. The lack of spacing in the engraved serial number - 1038265 instead of 1 038 265 - indicates that it was engraved somewhere in the seventies.

Erik.

Thanks for the info Erik. All the serial numbers lists I've seen list it as a chrome M3 hence the question. Is it that this was a chrome and then converted by Leitz in the seventies then?

adrianzg 08-25-2009 00:27

kywong: yup, it is. it's really grippy but feels rubbery, not as luxurious as leather. i might try a black beauty one day.

reuno: cheers mate, the m6 has the large m6 logo instead of the "leica m6"

martin: i saw a m8 with a grey dot from the titanium m7, look very nice too.

erik: ur m3 is awesome!
