Can you just switch those advance levers yourself or would you have to send the camera in?

And btw, I _love the one with the rapid advance thingy and the black M with the chrome style base plate.

martin

Yes you can switch it yourself. It takes about 10 seconds with the right tool.

I think the finder is about 650$? + labour alone and my guess would be that not many have a scrapped M6J so they can sell you a used one ;) The Advance lever is 60$ new from Leica, the film counter probably needs to be ordered from Leica as well. The Cla is 250$? since Youxin doesnt do M6īs. My guess would be that you will probably need to pay at least 1000$ for the whole thing...

Hmm ok then that was just "wishful thinking" I guess.....I`m not used to CLA/Repairs on M and what they cost etc.

Youxin Ye has done all the IIIC`s I have had done in the past, and the price was alot cheaper, so I will just have to ship it out via DAG or Sherry, I guess since it`s a business camera, I better not shortchange myself :) - Thanks!

Tom

Black M3's. Beauties. I'm new to M's--are these repaints? Shintaro? Robert? I've seriously considered having mine painted black.

My M2, with 50mm f/2.8 collapsible Elmar.
Just got back from CLA at Kindermann.

After 12 years of using an M6 for personal work I finally did it: instead of going digital I bought an MP, jippeeeehh!!!, wich will hopefully stay with me for years to come. I always longed for a chrome one, having a black M6, but this little gem was only three months old and reasonably priced.

I just love these cameras, they are a joy to use!
Cheers....

Leica M6, MP, CV 4/25, CV 1,2/35, Summilux 1,4/35 pre ASPH, Canon 1,2/50 LTM, Summicron 2/50.

Excellent !! :) I have sold my 35/2.0 black last year but still use a 50/1.4 and the M2 simply rocks !

well,
that's a good idea

maddoc 03-06-2009 06:18

historicist, Martin, that are two pretty cool shots ! However, I like the one from historicist better because of the Japanese book in the background .... ( Leica lens no ... ) :D

@ historicist: You had an M4-P, before the M4 ? (I remember a photo of yours at flicker taken in Sendai ... )

historicist 03-06-2009 11:34

martin-f5 - aah, the Berlin to Bavaria Thinkpad connection! Lovely camera!

maddoc - yes, I sold the m4p when I found the m4 for a good price (you can see why...). I prefer the chrome look and the rangefinder isn't as prone to flare.

M6 with 40/2 Rokkor, both bought on RFF this year. Leicagoodies stash on the strap, S&W 40.5mm metal hood. Best $1337.42 I ever spent. I am now digitaless, except for my cell phone.

My lovely M4-2 and Summicron. I scratched off the white paint from the camera.

I would rather have taken a black pencil instead and filled up the lettering in stead of scratching off the white, since by doing so you decreased the cameras value....

Cheers,

Oh no! Benny! Your camera is broken! It looks like someone who didn't know what he was doing had taken it apart and put it together all wrong... shutter and viewfinder on the bottom, lugs in wrong place, and so on. Tell you what, I'll give you a hundred bucks for it, as is. :D

That's fine--the camera is for shooting, not collecting or reselling :)

No wonder I looked like a confused monkey trying to focus with my right middle finger and and trigger the shutter with my left thumb!! :bang:

Cheers,
