I like beer too.:D

Moretti is about like Italian Budweiser (Italy is not known for it's beer).

I take as many pictures of my beer as I do my Leicas, but for some reason most of them are out of focus.

Here's mine, bought it two weeks ago used, as-is, from the web for 700 euro, and just picked it up from the post office.. It had a loose friction in the transport and a sticky brightline issue. That plus a complete CLA and a anti-viewfinder-flare mod was done within a few days! I send in it in on monday afternoon, and here it is on saturday! Will van Manen (NL) rules!

shot with leica 60mm 2.8 macro on canon 5d

Travis L.,

Or anyone else, for that matter, where does one get one of those black leica dots? I've seen the instructions for repainting your own, but are the black ones available for sale somewhere?

Same here ... it just arrived the other day!

HuubL 06-07-2008 09:25

That looks like a beautiful camera Jasper! Congrats! I'm sure Will tuned it perfectly!
BTW, was this one offered on Marktplaats? I had eyed one for a similar price some time ago.

jasperamsterdam 06-07-2008 11:28

I must admit i like no dot version, in fact, just moments after receiving back my camera, out came the black electrical tape.

And Huub, yes it is! Eventhough it cost me a cla for some defects, i still feel it's a good deal, and i'm really happy with it! (have been shooting dslrs for years, and always wanted a L since i used it once from a friend. In a week I'm taking it to NYC, leaving my 5d at home!)

Well after months and months of drooling over this thread I can finally add to it. I just sent the money this morning on this M6, it should be here Wednesday and I've been feverishly bidding on lenses on eBay......Leica GAS has a hold of me and I hope it never lets go!

abenner 06-07-2008 17:28

lopzik, that's a pretty high filter to lens value ratio you got there with the B+W on the Jupiter! Love the M3, looks nice and clean. I don't think there's a better looking M than a clean chrome M3.

That silver "dot" is interesting ... what's the story?

According to the seller, the previous owner buffed the paint off to make it look more "M3 like." I like it, makes it an interesting piece.

I have the leica with scraches and a dent on the top plate endeed :) I like my jupiter (although I have never tried leica lens), but it has a damage carving, so I decide to put on it a filter to use a hood without problems. And there are no questions for me to buy a b+w filter:
1) you can screw a filter
2) you can safe almost clean coating
3) this filter do not harm a picture (I suppose :))

Agreed.
Edho, you are just taunting us... ;) :bang:

Here's mine: M6 TTL bought s/h a few months ago, plus my only lens: Leica 50mm f2.5 Summarit. bought new at the same time as the camera.

visiondr 06-12-2008 07:13

Nice kit, Tom. How do you like the Summarit?

I have no problems with it, but there again I don't do low-light photography - if I did it wouldn't be fast enough. I do value its small size & comparative low weight. So I'm happy. Happy enough, in fact, that I'm contemplating getting a Summarit 35mm later this year, unless I can find a really good 35mm Summicron (non-ASPH, probably) for a good price.

I think the Summarits are very good lenses. I accept that in absolute terms they aren't as good (in various ways) as Summicrons or Summiluxes, but I don't do low light stuff, and I don't print at 30" x 20", so they're plenty good enough for me.

2.5 or 2.8 is plenty fast enough for most situations.
