The M7 and the new Summarit 2,5/75mm.

New to Forums and Leica
I was on the fence a while ago between getting a Bessa R2M or a Leica and finally decided that I could get a Leica M3 for about the same cost. So I picked up an M3 from flea-bay and much to my surprise it arrived in much better condition than I expected. The vulcanite is cracked and feels ready to fall off any second so I also ordered a grip-tac replacement kit.
Everything about the camera is very smooth and well engineered, the viewfinder is bright and clear and the film advance lever is like butter. All in all, I'm very impressed and now understand what all the fuss is about. The being said, I have yet to take any photos with it because I'm still waiting for my LTM - M adapter. ![]() Pictured: Leica M3 DS sitting on my Moleskine, Canon 50mm F/1.8 and Kodak T-Max 100. |
Just got it back from Sherry Krauter. I'm so glad to have it back. She did an amazing job. It's like a brand new camera.

Attachment 55998 My M8 w/ summicron 35 IV. Since it's my one and only camera, they are both self portraits, the latter one a pinhole picture, to show it without a lens. :) |

My new 0.58 silver MP with 24mm Elmarit in my car. I like this combo as I can use the 24mm without external viewfinder.:)

Purists may want to turn their heads and refrain from reading/viewing any further.
I grafted an original GMP grip onto my TA Rapidwinder to make my M6TTL a little easier to hold. Tom A. makes a fantastic grip, but it's a bit bigger, it wouldn't fit my RapidWinder 1 without modifying the winder, and it costs $$$ while I have a few spare GMP grips for free Frankencamera experimenting. It was a pretty easy mod, just drilled and tapped two fairly shallow holes. Winder works fine post-op, and the rig fits my hands better. I've already apologized to Tom for despoiling his creation. :^} I'd like to add a ThumbsUp CS when they're available..... Pix are here: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/foru...ad.php?t=52229 |

Graduated from college and enslaved in society, I wanted to buy a classic Leica (and my first as well). I'm getting the Jupiter-3 50mm f/1.5 later this week. This should be a modest but nice setup, good to explore decent RF's

Here's my starter M kit. Saved up for quite some time for it. The M2 was a user level, has a bash-in near the eye-piece, a loose strap lug and the vulcanite is coming off in about 8 separate places. I also notice that photos taken at 1/15 or 1/8 have a strong band of seeming light leakage on the right hand side of my photos. Could this mean a sticky shutter return at these speeds?

Lorenzo, I also have an M6TTL 0.58 VF. I'm trying to decide between the 21/2.8 and 25/2.8 Biogon. For sure I would need the external VF with the 21mm, but can you get away without it for the 25mm?

Personally, when I chose the 25 I did it because I was looking for something wider than a 28 and that didn't reveal itself too much as a wideangle lens. Anyway, coming back to your question, you can use the 25mm without an external finder even with glasses. It's still faster than to use an external vf, from my point of view. If you don't wear them, anyway, you'll find it much easier. |
